The 2008 Senate
Elections pose the potential for GREAT LOSS in terms of the number of
both Veterans and Combat Veterans serving in the U.S. Senate.
There are presently 29 Veterans, 8 of which are
COMBAT Veterans, are in the Senate. THREE of these men are retiring:
National Guard Veteran Larry Craig (ID), Korean War USMC Combat Veteran
John Warner (VA), and Vietnam War Army Combat Veteran Chuck Hagel (NE).
Senator John McCain's Presidential Bid may bring the net loss to FOUR
veterans, THREE of whom numbered among the Senate's present 8 Combat
Veterans.
A total of 35 Senate Seats are open in the 2008
Election, including seats currently held by TWELVE Veterans, THREE of
whom are COMBAT VETERANS.
