Personal Biography Page For

Wayne E. Harmon (R)
Candidate for U.S. House of Representatives
Indiana's 7th Congressional District

I am a strong believer in an Efficient, Functional Government.

As a 5th generation Marion County Resident, I have seen and heard a lot of stories about this county. The 1st generation of my Hoosier family resided near Riverside Park back when Benjamin Harrison was a U.S. Senator for Indiana and then President.

As for myself, I have always called Indianapolis my home. From growing up in the Brightwood and Brookside neighborhoods to graduating from T.C. Howe High School and Indiana University, I have seen this district evolve in many different directions. The values and loyalty that I have learned from Howe H.S. carried over into my service in the U.S. Marine Corps. After fighting in Iraq and retiring from the Marines in 2005, I am now back home in Indiana and continuing my service in local government.

44 years ago, I was born here in Indianapolis, Indiana at Community Hospital (east). As a kid growing up in Brightwood and Brookside neighborhoods, I enjoyed playing in Brookside Park in every season. Brookside Park is where I started my interest in sports by playing Little League Baseball with my father as my coach and my brother as a teammate.

Living on the southside of the Brookside Park, my first elementary school was IPS #54. Twelve years later I graduated from Thomas Carr Howe High School with great memories of running in the Howe Invitational at Christian Park and long wrestling practices during Christmas Break.

After High School, I became a 2nd generation Marine by following in my father's footsteps and enlisted in the Marines Corps. As I travel up and down the Pacific Rim, I was afforded the opportunities of international experiences throughout my life.

In the middle of my career, I was able to return home and attend Indiana University in Bloomington. At Indiana University, I obtained a double major by studying Criminal Justice and East Asian Studies (Japanese Language).

After returning home to family and friends, I continued my fight for justice by being a probation and parole officer for the citizens of Indiana. As a Probation Officer, I personally conducted Revocation Hearings against my own probationers for failure to comply with probation. I will always continued to fight for Justice with the same integrity that I had when I was in the Marines.
