Maurice "Footsie" Britt boarding the Prairie
Princess for a cruise on Lake Pueblo in 1995.
Six months after his visit to Pueblo Footsie was hospitalized for
continuing illness. Before going into the hospital in December he told his closest
friend and war companion Fred Oxner he wanted to go fishing one last time before entering
the hospital. This was Footsie's last fishing trip. Two days later he went
into the hospital and a week later he passed away. (Photo courtesy of Fred
