Third Class Boy William Mulcahy fell overboard from the U.S. Training Ship Minnesota near Newport, Rhode Island. Without regard for his own safety, Captain of the Top William Hill jumped into the waters, rescued his shipmate, and kept him afloat until the two were picked up by a steam launch. |
