In action with rebel guerilla forces at Majada, Laguna Province, Philippine Islands, on July 2, 1901, Second Lieutenant Allen Greer single-handedly charged an enemy outpost. His courageous one-man attack, while armed only with a pistol, resulted in his killing one enemy soldier and wounding two. He then captured three additional men along with their rifles and equipment. Second Lieutenant Greer was awarded the Medal of Honor for his great courage in making this lone attack on a vastly superior enemy force. |
