First Lieutenant Joseph Cecil was at the head of his column preparing to assault the first cotta at Mount Bud Dajo at Jolo, Philippine Islands, when he and his men came under intense fire at short range by a superior enemy force that killed one man and wounded another, both of whom were next to the lieutenant. Under a continuing rain of enemy bullets, Lieutenant Cecil carried his wounded soldier and the body of the man killed in that action to a place of safety. |
