Indian Scout Rowdy was one of three Cavalry sergeants awarded the Medal of Honor for heroism on March 7, 1890, which award was actually for continuing courage during engagements with hostile Apache Indians. Sergeant Rowdy's citation note his: Bravery in action with Apache Indians." Also earning Medals of Honor on this date and for similar bravery were Sergeants James Daniels and William McBryar.
