Drummer Julian Scott was one of three soldiers who earned the Medal of Honor for heroism during the battle at Lee's Mills, Virginia, on April 16, 1862. The 3d Vermont Infantry attacked across a creek to attack an enemy force that was entrenched in pits only yards from the bank. In the desperate battle that followed, Drummer Scott made several trips across the fire-swept creek in order to assist in bringing off wounded soldiers. |
