On December 15, 1864, Colonel Philip Post led his brigade in an attack upon a strong position under a terrific fire of grape, canister, and musketry. He was struck down by a grapeshot after he had reached the enemy's works. His Medal of Honor was presented for his actions on that day, as well as the following day when fourteen more men earned Medals of Honor at Nashville, Tennessee. |
