At Lewis' Farm, Virginia, Colonel Alfred Pearson saw a brigade being forced back by the enemy attack. He seized his regimental color and called on his men to follow him as he advanced upon the Confederate forces under a severe fire. Inspired by Colonel Pearson's example and courage, the entire brigade joined him in the advance, recovering lost ground and repulsing the enemy forces. |
