Private Charles Orr was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions in an engagement at Hatcher's Run, Virginia, on October 27, 1864, during which he and two other soldiers braved heavy enemy fire in voluntary efforts to rescue several wounded and helpless comrades. His was one of six actions that merited award of the Medal of Honor in this battle. |
