Musician William "Willy" Johnston, though only age 11, served as a Musician with the 3d Vermont Infantry. He became the youngest recipient of the Medal of Honor in its history for his gallantry during the Seven Day Battle and Peninsula Campaign in Virginia during the period from June 26 to July 1, 1862. |
