Corporal Lorenzo Immell earned the Medal of Honor for bravery in action against the rebel enemy forces during the engagement at Wilson's Creek, Missouri, on August 10, 1861. He was one of five men cited for courage in this battle.
Other's cited for heroism at Wilson's Creek were: Major John Schofield, First Lieutenant William Wherry, and First Lieutenant Henry Wood.
