Colonel William Henry was one of twenty soldiers who was awarded the Medal of Honor for personal valor in action against Confederate forces at Cedar Creek, Virginia, on October 19, 1865. Though suffering from severe wounds received in battle, Colonel Henry rejoined his regiment and led it in a brilliant charge that resulted in recapturing the guns of an abandoned battery. |
