Four men earned Medals of Honor in action against Confederate forces at Atlanta, Georgia on July 21 - 22, 1863. Among these four heroes was Brigadier General Manning Force who led a charge against the enemy's works on July 22. After capturing the enemy position, General Force led his men in defending their position against repeated assaults by the rebel army, until he was himself severely wounded. |
