Four soldiers earned the Medal of Honor in action with Confederate forces at Dabney's Mills, Virginia, on February 6, 1865. During the heavy fighting, Sergeant John Delaney sprang through the lines and rescued a wounded comrade who was about to be burned in the brush, earning the award for his gallantry on behalf of a fellow soldier. |
