Major Byron Cutcheon received the Medal of Honor for distinguished gallantry in leading his regiment in a charge on a house occupied by enemy forces at Horseshoe Bend, Kentucky, on May 10, 1863. |

In 1868 Byron Cutcheon served as a Presidential Elector from Michigan. From 1883 - 1891 he represented Michigan's 9th Congressional District in the US House of Representatives. |
