Second Lieutenant Orville Chamberlain was one of nine soldiers awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroism in the battle of Chickamauga, Georgia, on September 19 & 20, 1863. On the second day of that battle, while exposed to a galling fire, Lieutenant Chamberlain went in search of another regiment. After finding its location, he procured needed ammunition from them and returned to his own company to re-supply their rapidly diminishing ammunition. |
