Commaned a PT (Torpedo) boat in the Pacific. When the boat was rammed and sunk by a Japanese destroyer in August 1943, Kennedy despite serious injuries, led the surviving crew through miles of perilous waters to safety. For his heroic actions in saving the lives of his crew, he was awarded the Navy/Marine Corps Medal for his gallantry in action and the Purple Heart for his wounds received. After the WWII he went into politics served both as a Congressman and Senator from the State of Massachusetts. In 1960 he was elected the 35th President of the United States, the youngest ever to hold that office. On November 22, 1963 he was assassinated in Dallas, Texas by alleged assassin Lee Harvey Oswald. Was buried at Arlington National Cemetary with full military honors. A Great Man and a True Hero!
