Anthony "Tony" G. Chandler was killed on the night of June 16, 1968, in Vietnam, while on patrol, serving aboard PCF-19 (Patrol Craft Fast boats are better known as Swift Boats). Tony and 4 other members of his 6 man crew were killed aboard PCF-19 that night when their small vessel was suddenly attacked. PCF-19 when attacked instantly exploded and sank off the coast of Vietnam, near the DMZ. Tony’s body was never recovered. Earlier this year (2001), a military forensic team identified a bone fragment, through DNA testing, that was unearthed nearly a decade ago, as Anthony G. Chandler’s remains. Tony’s family was notified of the news and they held a full military burial service for Tony, at Centerville City Cemetery, located near Warner Robins, GA, on June 16, 2001, the 33rd anniversary of Tony’s death. Tony, your family and friends are so very sorry you gave the ultimate sacrifice for your country that awful night in Vietnam, but we are so grateful to have you finally home again after so many years!
