3 Medals of Honor are Accredited to Wyoming

  • No Black American soldiers were awarded the Medal of Honor during World War II despite the extreme valor of many.  When finally this travesty was corrected in 1997 President Clinton presented the Medal of Honor to Wyoming's Vernon Baker, the only surviving hero from the group.

"For Conspicuous Gallantry and Intrepidity in Action At the Risk of Life Above and Beyond the Call of Duty"
