During the Civil War 8 Medals of Honor were awarded for heroism on the battlefields of West Virginia. During the Indian Campaigns 4 more Medals were awarded for action inside the state.
Civil War West Virginia hero WILLIAM HORSFALL was a 14 year old drummer boy when he received the Medal of Honor for his heroic rescue of a wounded officer.
