32 Medals of Honor are Accredited to Tennessee

  • During the Civil War 105 Medals of Honor were awarded for heroic actions "on the ground" in Tennessee.

  • World War I hero ALVIN YORK became one of the best known heroes in American History.  His story was brought to life in the movie named for him in which Gary Cooper played the heroic conscious objector.
