31 Medals of Honor are Accredited to Rhode Island

  • During World War I only ONE Medal of Honor was awarded for heroism outside the European Theatre of action.   Providence-born Naval aviator Francis Ormsbee received our Nation's Highest Award for heroism off the coast of Florida.
