21 Medals of Honor are Accredited to Nebraska

During the Indian Wars 14 Medals of Honor were awarded for action "on the ground" in Nebraska.
The Last Medal of Honor actions in our Nation's History occurred on October 3, 1993 in Somalia. Two Army rangers received the award for heroism that day including Nebraska-born RANDALL SHUGHART. Both heroes died in their moment of valor.
