43 Medals of Honor are Accredited to Kentucky

During the Civil War 3 Medals of Honor were awarded for action "on the ground" in Kentucky.
Kentucky's Dr. Mary Edwards Walker is the ONLY WOMAN in history to be awarded the Medal of Honor.
Kentucky-born Civil War drummer WILLIAM HORSFALL was only 14 years old when he earned the Medal of Honor at Corinth for saving the life of a wounded officer.
