In October, 1993 the living Medal of Honor recipients gathered for their
bi-annual (now held annually) reunion, this year held in Charleston, South Carolina.
Among the activities of the week was the dedication of a new museum. Located aboard
the U.S.S. Yorktown, the Medal of Honor Museum's exterior walls feature the names
of all Medal of Honor recipients. Inside the museum itself are numerous exhibits,
some dedicated to periods in Medal of Honor history, others to individual heroes. A
memorial is also maintained to the most recently departed Medal recipient.
The Museum is maintained and operated by the dedicated staff of the
Congressional Medal of Honor Society, which is headquartered there. We encourage all
visitors to the Charleston area to take the time to visit Patriots Point to tour the Yorktown
as well as the Medal of Honor museum.
