On board the U.S.S. Quinnebaug, Alexandria, Egypt, on
the morning of 21 November 1885. Jumping overboard from that vessel, Chandron, with the
aid of Hugh Miller, boatswain's mate, rescued William Evans, ordinary seaman, from
drowning.
