Rank and Organization: First Lieutenant, Company H, 21st Illinois Infantry. Place and Date: At Stone River, Tenn., 30 December 1862. At Liberty Gap, Tenn., 25 June 1863. Entered Service At: Marshall, Clark County, Ill. Birth: Marshall, Clark County, Ill. Date Of Issue: 23 June 1890.

Citation:

Conspicuous in the charge at Stone River, Tenn., where he was three times wounded. At Liberty Gap, Tenn., captured colors of 8th Arkansas Infantry (C.S.A.).
