Korean War
Awards of the Silver Star
for
Conspicuous Gallantry
in Action
To date we have identified 10,087 U.S. Military personnel who were awarded the Silver Star during the Korean War. (We estimate, and this is just a guess, that these comprise close to 50% or more of the Silver Star Awards.)
During the interim between World War II and the Korean War, the Army Air Force was established as the U.S. Air Force, a separate branch of service. As such, the majority of air awards of the Silver Star were presented by the Air Force to its own aviators.
The pages below will link you to the indexes of recipients for the four branches of military service in the Korean War, as well as to the citations we have thus far compiled.
In addition to the Silver Star, the pages linked below also include citations for
all awards of the MOH/DSC/NX/AFC in the specified actions.
