Citation: The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Thomas P. Akers, Sergeant First Class, U.S. Army, for distinguished service as a member of the Signal Corps in the China relief expedition in China, on 12 August 1900. D.S.M. issued in lieu of the Certificate of Merit under the provisions of the act of Congress July 9, 1918) Born: at Lexington, Kentucky Home Town: Lexington, Kentucky BERNHEIM, ALFRED A. Citation: The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Alfred A. Bernheim, Sergeant, U.S. Army, for distinguished gallantry while serving as a member of Company D, 9th Infantry Regiment, in the battle of Tientsin, China, on 13 July 1900.
