The NUMBER ONE RESOURCE for anything involving Medal of Honor recipients is the Congressional Medal of Honor Society. You can click on the button at the left to go directly to their home page. The most well done and complete book of informaton on the Medal of Honor is the book titled ABOVE AND BEYOND. Filled with numerous photographs, diagrams, maps, stories and more, it can be purchased from the Congressional Medal of Honor Society for $25 + $5 for postage and handling. Click on the button at left to go directly to their order page. BEYOND THE MEDAL by Medal recipient Peter Lemon is an inspiration collection of the thoughts, stories, and reminiscences of more than half the living Medal of Honor recipients. You can click on the button at left to order it from Amazon.com for $17.47. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this book benefits the CMOH Society Scholarship Fund. You can read review of the book in our Gift Shop.
The six-tape VHS MEDAL OF HONOR video is one of my all-time favorite resources. Produced by U.S. News and World Report and hosted by Cliff Robertson, I can not recommend it high enough. The most recent information I had on this series was its availability from CABIN FEVER ENTERTAINMENT (100 West Putnam Avenue, Greenwich, CT 06830). If you know of other sources please e-mail me with the information so I can add it. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find this exceptional documentary.
Historian Edward F. Murphy has written three books that are among the very best. You can check Amazon.com for availability however you may be more successful ordering it from a local book store as they are currently out of print and becoming more difficult to find. The 3 Books are titled: HEROES OF WWII KOREAN WAR HEROES
VIETNAM MEDAL OF HONOR HEROESREADER'S DIGEST CONDENSED BOOKS
Some of my favorite stories (and cheapest resources) have been in Reader's Digest Condensed Books I have found in Thrift Stores and yard sales. Among the Medal of Honor stories are:
DOUGLAS MacARTHUR.......Great Biographies
"Outpost of Freedom" (ROGER DONLON)....Volume 1, 1966
"General Dean's Story"....Summer, 1954
"In Love and War" (JIM STOCKDALE)...Volume 3, 1985You can search Amazon.com for additional titles. The most comprehensive and accurate Medal of Honor Information can be found in MEDAL OF HONOR RECIPIENTS 1863-1994 by George Lang, Raymond Collins and Gerard White.
