We remember only a small part of what we hear,
slightly more of those things we hear and see (visual aids). There is a tremendous
leap in the amount of retention we have of those things which we hear, see and PARTICIPATE
in. This page will provide you with class participation projects, and link you to
resources to help you make them happen.

Create a display to
your State's greatest Military heroes. Click on the button above to visit our pages
dedicated to recipients of the Medal of Honor. Find the listing for your state and
print each recipient's citation, photo and create a bulletin board display. Perhaps
even consider inviting a Medal of Honor recipient to visit your school for a patriotic
assembly, or involve the students in sending "thank you" letters or birthday
greetings to them. We provide most of the information you need to get started, and
are happy to answer e-mails with questions or requests for additional information.

Involve your students in learning something
about their own family's service in uniform. Most children are related to either a
veteran or to someone currently serving in uniform. Have the students learn
something about these family members service, when, where, and what medals they earned.
When you click on the button above you can
access our pages detailing every military medal authorized. Children can download
these, move them into a graphics or word processing program, and make a special page in
honor of a family member who has served that includes copies of their authorized awards. |

Learn about your home state, write
reports, and then share the results of your study on the World Wide Web. Currently
we are building several hundred pages detailing the history, symbols, geography,
government, and more for each of our 50 states. TWENTY states already have school
students working on them as part of an ongoing project/contest. Click on the map at
left to visit the main page of this site (still under construction). If your class
is interested in doing a page or more, we will be happy to work with you to put the pages
in web format....and will even give your students credit for their hard work. This
is a great program not only for learning, but also for sharing. It has the added
bonus of giving your students the opportunity to see the results of their effort included
as an important part of the Hall of Heroes web site.
Student
initiated web content at the Hall of Heroes is NOT limited to the STATE pages only.
If your students are doing well-researched reports on other areas of American History that
fit within our program, we welcome you to share them with others through out internet
site. |

Print,
read, and study the Inaugural Addresses of our Presidents. Many of these historic
speeches contain some of the most commonly recognized phrases and quotes in American
literature. They provide a valuable educational tool as we prepare for a
Presidential campaign and election next year, followed by the first Inauguraion of the new
millenium.
