Tribute To The Soldier
As we get closer to Veterans Day I think its
appropriate I pose a question to you. Just how important do you think the military is to
the prosperity of our free nation and the world?
To answer that question reflect back to President
Reagans inaugural address January 20, 1981 where he said, "
as we renew
ourselves here in our own land, we will be seen as having greater strength throughout the
world. We will again be the exemplar of freedom and a beacon of hope for those who do not
now have freedom. to those neighbors and allies who share our freedom, we will strengthen
our historic ties and assure them of our support and firm commitment. We will match
loyalty with loyalty. We will strive for mutually beneficial relations. We will not use
our friendship to impose on their sovereignty. For our own sovereignty is not for sale. As
for the enemies of freedom, to those who are potential adversaries, they will be reminded
that peace is the highest aspiration of the American people. We will negotiate for it,
sacrifice for it, we will not surrender for it, - now or ever."
Our Commander and Chief could never make a statement like
that unless he was positive his words could be backed in war and in peace. Without the
courage, loyalty, dignity and selflessness of the military we could never enjoy the
freedoms we have in this country or assist in protecting those of our foreign friends.
Those in the military, never think for a moment that we are
not thankful for your pillar of strength.. As "peace-keepers of the world", you
are held in the highest esteem by the United States and countries throughout the world who
are grateful.
World history would never have been what it is without the
strength and the generosity of the United States. When in war, theyre on your side.
When at peace, theyre at your service and never asking for a return but peace and
freedom
.we do not have any real opportunities to say a simple word to the American
people: thank you for what you are to all of us
.
