LAND OF OPPORTUNITY EXHIBIT

	America - Land of Opportunity Not Excuses

For decades the United States of America has been recognized throughout the world as the "Land of Opportunity", making the goal of reaching its friendly shores the dream of millions of immigrants searching for a better life. But just what does the title: "Land of Opportunity" really mean? The focus of this very special room is dedicated to answering this question, and the answer may surprise you.
Usually the term "Land of Opportunity" causes us to reflect on the thousands of foreigners who have struggled to reach our shores in order to establish a better life for themselves and their families. But to limit the definition of this title to immigrants is to miss its true meaning, for the United States of America is the "Land of Opportunity" for every man and woman within its borders...adopted or native. What this title really means is: "There is NO EXCUSE for not achieving your dreams!" The freedoms and opportunities offered to the people of the United States mean that whatever you can dare to dream and are willing to sacrifice to achieve, you can do. There will always be set-backs and failures, nay-sayers and sceptics...but the destiny of every United States citizen lies in their own willingness to dream and work to achieve those dreams. The truth of this fact is quickly evident in the Land of Opportunity room. Here you will meet the unlikliest of heroes...men and women, boys and girls who faced challenges and obstacles that seemed insurmountable, yet went on to achieve beyond imagination. From those facing debilitating physical handicaps to those burdened by social injustices, each of them chose to concentrate on dreams for success rather than use their limitations as an excuse for failure. It is our hope that every American will find in one of these men and women, the problems they themselves could possibly use as an excuse to give up on their dreams; and that the stories of these heroes JUST LIKE YOU will inspire you to rise above your problems and circumstances to LIVE THE AMERICAN DREAM. At long last, we begin to open these exhibits with a very special presentation titled, "WHAT DOES A HERO LOOK LIKE". As we build, you will meet many people, people just like you, that we hope will help you understand the many opportunities that lie before you.
