This Is The Second Floor

If you could pull the roof off the Hall of Heroes, this is what the SECOND FLOOR would look like.  It is shaped like the Medal Of Honor presented to members of the Navy and Marine Corps.  At the very back are more offices, as well as a large conference room and theater. 

In the very center is an open gallery (with a railing for safety of course), that looks down to the flag display on the first floor.  If you remember how the display to our Nation's Capitol is set up next to the flags, you can imagine how standing up here and looking down at the large model of the mall in Washington, DC is almost like looking down on the real city from an airplane.

The five points of the star provide for FIVE very special rooms, divided into FOUR different subjects.  The two rooms at the top of the star are the AMERICAN HERITAGE rooms.  The room to the left is my favorite room...it is dedicated to American WOMEN who are heroes and role models for all of us.  Across from that room is a very unique room called AMERICA-LAND OF OPPORTUNITY...NOT EXCUSES.  Though my dad designed most of the museum, this room was suggested and designed by my mom.   I'll tell you more about it in a little bit.  The point of the star facing you is called HEROES OF THE LAST FRONTIER room.  It is dedicated to the American men and women who pioneered aviation and ultimately led us to reach the moon.
