Alfred Cummings - A World War II veteran and retired Federal Employee, Mr. Cummings has photographed thousands of gravesites in Arlington National Cemetery and compiled these in organized albums that can be viewed at the cemetery's Visitors' Center. He began this project in 1990 after the death of his wife, first photographing her grave site at ANC, then continuing to photograph and catalog the gravesites of Medal of Honor recipients and other prominent Americans. Mr. Cummings was kind enough to provide ALL of the burial site photos for our section on ANC. You can read more about him in our extended biography HERE. Mr. Cummings Passed Away in 2008 and is buried next to his wife at Arlington National Cemetery. |

Gayle Alvarez is Charter member of the Idaho Military Historical Society/Idaho Military History Museum located in Boise Idaho. She has been a member of the Board of Directors since 1994 and is currently serving as its Secretary. She also serves as the Museum's webmaster (http://inghro.state.id.us/musuem) and produces their quarterly newsletter. It was while working on the newsletter in December 1999 that she began researching the Medal of Honor recipients with a connection to Idaho. As it turned out, the first individual she began researching had a significant historical error and the more individuals she researched, the more errors she uncovered. The 34 Medal of Honor recipients that she is researching are listed on the Museum's webpage. If you have information you can share with her on any of them, please contact her. EMAIL: Gayle Alvarez |

Connie Nisinger - Well, it all started with a tour of Hollywood in a hearse! After visiting numerous celebrity-related sites, the driver gave out maps of two Hollywood cemeteries and I was hooked! In addition to visiting celebrity graves, I have a great interest in local history. Fortunately, the area where I live has an abundance of local notable graves, many of which are military-related. I made it my goal to locate & photograph as many Medal of Honor graves as possible. My current goal is to get a marker for John Tracy (a.k.a. Henry Nabers) who is buried in Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri. The marker has been ordered from the Department of Veterans Affairs & the cemetery has agreed to pay for the setting. In my spare time I am a high school librarian in the Midwest. I am happy to have this excellent opportunity to share my photos with others via the Internet. I have met countless people as a result, and look forward to meeting many more! EMAIL: Connie Nisinger |
