Born:  1837 at Marshall, IL

Entered Service in the US Army from Marshall, IL

Earned The Medal of Honor During the Civil War For heroism December 30, 1862 & June 25, 1863 at Stone River & Liberty Gap, TN

Died:  December 22, 1890 at the age of 53

First Lieutenant Nineveh McKeen exhibited great courage and leadership against enemy forces at Stone River, Tennessee, on December 29, 1862. He was conspicuous in the charge on enemy positions, during which he was wounded three times. On June 25, 1863, First Lieutenant McKeen was cited for his gallantry in capturing the colors of 8th Arkansas Infantry (Confederate States of America) at Liberty Gap, Tennessee. Captain Milton Russell also earned the Medal of Honor at Stone River on the previous day, and eight more soldiers earned Medals of Honor at Stone River on December 31.
