Entered Service in the US Army from North Madison, IN

Earned The Medal of Honor During the Civil War For heroism April 06, 1865 at Deatonsville (Sailor's Creek), VA

Died:  May 03, 1888 at the age of 48

Sixty Medals of Honor were awarded for actions at Deatonsville (Sailor's Creek), Virginia, during the period March 29 to April 6, 1865. Fifty-seven awards were presented for actions on April 6 alone, forty-seven of them for the capture of flags of the Confederate Army. On that day Corporal Absalom Jordan received the Medal of Honor for his capture of a flag of the Confederate Army.
