Buried in American Battle Monument Cemeteries

A.B.M.C. Manila

A.B.M.C. Manila is the ONLY cemetery in the Pacific administered by the Commission.  It's 152 acres make it second in physical size only to A.B.M.C. Normandy.  The 17,206 war dead buried here make it the largest cemetery in terms of the number of crosses that are neatly lined up across its tree-shaded expanse.  In front of the chapel are two large hemicycles with rooms at each end, and on rectangular Trani limestone piers within the hemicycles are inscribed the names of 36,282 Americans who were killed in action throughout the Pacific theater of World War II, and who lay somewhere in beneath the oceans or in unmarked graves.  Seven Medal of Honor recipients rest here with 21 more remembered on the Tablets of the Missing.
