Thank you all for your prayers, your kind words, and your support of Douglas and Cheri during the past ten days. Our youngest granddaughter will live on in our hearts and memories. Below is a video our son Douglas posted from Gia's memorial service.

Gia Marielle Sterner, our granddaughter, was born "sleeping" on at 2:53 a.m. on June 15, 2012. She is the daughter of our son Douglas and his wife Cheri.

In their first two years of marriage, Douglas and Cheri were told they would probably never be able to have children. So you can imagine our joy when, 8 1/2 months ago Douglas and Cheri announced the surprising news that Cheri was pregnant.

On June 13, two weeks before Gia was schedule to make her appearance, Cheri noticed her child had quit moving. Douglas rushed her to the hospital where ultrasound failed to find a heartbeat. A little more than 24 hours later Gia was born. Douglas noted on FB: "Gia was born at 253 AM on 6/15 never took a breath of air, but was so beautiful, she wrapped the cord around herself, we are still in much need of prayer — with Cheri Andrea Sterner."

Thank you to all of our friends...some of whom we had never met prior to this difficult time in our lives, for your kindness and support. Your giving relieved the added burden of financial pressure faced by this young couple who already had far too much to deal with in their young lives. ALL of their immediate financial needs were covered by the Memorial Fund established here.
