The St. Mihiel Offensive was the first time in history that a ground
attack was coordinated with aerial forces above the ground. Before the war ended the
Navy's two pilots who earned Medals of Honor would be joined by four Army airmen and two Marine Corps pilots.
Only two of them survived. |
