The St. Mihiel Offensive was the first time in history that a ground attack was coordinated with aerial forces above the ground.  Before the war ended the Navy's two pilots who earned Medals of Honor would be joined by four Army airmen and two Marine Corps pilots.  Only two of them survived.

Presentation:  To His Father in Phoenix, Arizona 
     by Brigadier General Howard R. Hickok on May 29, 1919
Date of Death:   September 29, 1918  (Killed In Action)
Buried at:  Meuse-Argonne Cemetery - Romagne Meuse, France
