  • NO Medal of Honor recipients were killed in action, however since Theodore Roosevelt's award was not presented until after his death, his is noted as a Posthumous Award.
  • EIGHT Medal of Honor recipients were captured and spent time as Prisoners of War
  • JOHN DAVIS (USN), who received the Medal of Honor for the action at Cienfuegos, was the last living Spanish-American War Medal of Honor recipient.  He died on June 9, 1970 at the age of 92.
