Rescue at Tayacoba

|
|
On June 30th a reconnaissance party was sent
ashore at Tayacoba, Cuba and was promptly surrounded, ambushed,
and all avenues of retreat to their ship blocked. Under
cover of darkness that night, four men of the 10th Cavalry
voluntarily went ashore to rescue the beleaguered force after four
rescue missions by Cuban forces had failed during the day.
