Alvin York was an unlikely hero, a backwoods boy from Tennessee who was opposed to killing...even in war. During World War I he became one of the most famous Medal of Honor heroes of all time when he single-handedly captured 132 enemy soldiers. After the war he used his "hero" status to build schools in the hills of Tennessee. |
