I reported to US Coast Guard bootcamp on Government Island(now Coast Guard Island),Alameda,Ca on March 10, 1975. After one week of forming company I transfered into the Honor Guard barracks of Oscar Company. My friend who enlisted with me and was a week ahead gave me a heads up on the first Coast Guard History class where the instructor asks if anyone knows who Douglas Munro is....when said question was asked in my class I answered yes and said that was me....  Believe me, he was in my face looking at my shirt stencil assuring me that my first name had better be Douglas. My last name is pronounced the same, but with the Irish spelling, same Clan.  AM3 Douglas E. Monroe USCG 75-79
