Stories of American Heroes - Brought to you from the "Home of Heroes" - Pueblo, Colorado |
The 2001
Freedom CalendarThe Feature That Started a Tradition
This is the first calendar produced by HomeOfHeroes.com for the year 2001. Since that date, we have released a new calendar every year on Veterans Day. Because each year our calendar features unique photographs of our Nation's Medal of Honor recipients interacting with the American public, we continue to keep prior calendars available on line indefinitely for those who missed them in their publication year.
This is a unique, full color patriotic calendar you and your friends can enjoy all year long. Each month is presented with a vivid, full-color background image from American history, and the calendar itself notes not only the holidays, but important dates in American history as well. You will also find the birth dates, as well as the anniversary of the heroic action, of each of our living Medal of Honor recipients. Photos at the top of the calendar will feature images of some of our Nation's greatest living heroes, many of these by Mick Bush, official photographer for the Congressional Medal of Honor Society.
Print one calendar for yourself, print a second one for a friend. In fact, while you are printing why not make one more to send to one of our servicemen or servicewomen as a Christmas gift. There is NO LIMIT on how many calendars you print, so long as you distribute them as FREELY as we are sharing them with you. One reason
we release the calendar on Veterans Day is because many of our visitors print multiple copies to send in lieu of Christmas Cards. Each calendar has a blank section on the first page where you can inscribe your own personal message on those you send to others.
Clubs, organizations, museums, and veterans groups are encouraged to print enough calendars for each of their members, or to offer as gifts to others. We even provide a space for you to write a personal note, add your organization name, include a special patriotic verse, or write a tribute to a hero in your own life.
Instructions
Basically, obtaining your calendar is a simple three-step process:
Download your calendar from our site.
Print both sides of your calendar on your printer.
Bind the top edge of your calendar. (You can get an attractive comb or spiral binding done at most prints shops, Office Max, etc. for about $1.)
DOWNLOADING
TWO files are required for your calendar:
Calendar_1 (The first one you'll print), and
Calendar_2 (What you will print on the BACK side of the Calendar_1 pages).
BEFORE you download the files from our site there are TWO things you will need to know in order to select the proper files from our list below:
1. WHAT PROGRAM DO YOU WANT TO OPEN THE CALENDAR IN?
Microsoft WORD
If your computer has WORD 2000 or later, this is the option we recommend, as it is the program used to create the calendar. Since the calendar is created using nested tables, a feature not supported in WORD 97, we do not recommend it for earlier versions.
Adobe PDF
PDF files open in Adobe Acrobat Reader, a program that comes on most computers. If you do not have Acrobat Reader, you can download and install it FREE. This is the option recommended if you do not have Microsoft WORD on your computer.
1. HOW DOES YOUR PRINTER FEED THE PAPER FOR PRINTING?
For the most part, printers can be divided into THREE groups. Compare your printer to those shown below, in order to download the most user friendly version of our calendar files. Below the printer's indicated you will find the appropriate files to download. We strongly recommend that you click on the PRINT INSTRUCTIONS for the appropriate printer to access a PRINT HELPS page.
