The Hall Of Heroes

It is an honor to welcome you to the Home of Heroes website.  On this site you will find an incredible amount of information regarding some of our nation's bravest individuals - the recipients of the Medal of Honor.

I am Congressman John Salazar and I represent Pueblo, Colorado - America's Home of Heroes.  I hope you find this site educational and eye opening.

I encourage you to dive into this website and learn all you can about the Medal of Honor, its history and its recipients.  Each Medal of Honor recipient has a unique story of valor and courage, but they are all united by a dedication to freedom and liberty.

Medal of Honor recipients are true heroes.  These brave individuals risked life and limb for our nation and were rewarded with our nation's highest honor.   We cannot allow that honor to be degraded by fakes and phonies.

This website helps us remember the true heroes, so their service will not be forgotten. While you're here, take the time to explore all of the other resources that have been made available to you.

John T. Salazar
Member of Congress

The Hall Of Heroes is a "Virtual Museum", so real it is not unusual for us to receive e-mails from people wanting to make a personal visit.  Is is the ultimate "impossible dream" of your webmaster, Doug Sterner.  In 1996 Doug was enjoying a successful career in real estate management when his good friend Pete Lemon remarked, "You are wasting your talents in this business...you should be running a museum to share your knowledge of history with kids."  Over the next two years Doug designed that museum, creating two scale models so real, photos in this website give the impression of being inside an actual facility.

1st_floor_flags.jpg (9106 bytes)In 1998 Doug left his real estate career and, at the age of 48, went back to college to obtain a degree in Computer Information Systems.  During the period, while still hoping to someday build the Hall Of Heroes, he began creating our on-line version.  It now contains some 12,000 pages of historical information organized in an easy to navigate, chronology of American History.  Teachers, students, historians, veterans, and anyone who's heart is moved when the flag passes by, will find the Hall Of Heroes and unforgettable experience.  Click on the button below and step into our special Hall Of Heroes.

THE HALL OF HEROES DOES NOT PRESENTLY EXIST AS A PHYSICAL FACILITY.    When constructed, the actual facility will one day provide a unique educational experience.  Its design and layout is planned to provide all-day, school field trips with a structured curriculum for teaching American history and inspiring youth.
