Feature Site of the Month
Archive

Periodically  we select one site on the world wide web to feature as our site of the month.  This selection is made strictly on content.  Our feature sites are not required to link back to us as many of those common "web awards" are usually little more than a gimmick to entice reciprocal links.  The following sites have been chosen in past months as our feature site.  We encourage you to visit them.

THE POW Network - Perhaps best known for exposing fraudulent claims to POW status, or individuals claiming unearned awards, the POW Network is primarily about the REAL heroes, with scores of pages of inspirational information.

Feature Site For November & December, 2005 - THE NATIONAL WWII Memorial - Take time to post a tribute to the WWII veterans you know and remember.

Feature Site For October, 2005 - THE LONE SAILOR MEMORIAL, a site filled with history and biographies of the men and women of the U.S. Navy. 

Feature Site For June - September, 2005 - THE VIRTUAL WALL is a moving tribute to the men and women who gave their lives in service during the Vietnam War. 

Feature Site For February - May, 2005 - AMERICA'S Story, a place to meet Amazing Americans, learn exciting stories, and further your knowledge of America.

Feature Site For December, 2004 - AMERICA SUPPORTS YOU - A special official site dedicated to helping Americans demonstrate their support for those men and women who serve in uniform around the world today. 

Feature Site For October & November, 2004 - BEYOND THE MEDAL OF HONOR, a great new video documentary on the lives of Pueblo, Colorado's four Medal of Honor recipients. Copies of this video were sponsored for distribution to 17,000 high schools nationwide by the Perot Foundation.

Feature Site For August & September, 2004 - An abundance of information and help for Sailors and Marines and their families.

Feature Site For July, 2004 - Patriotic Poetry and graphic are in abundance in this well done website. 

Feature Site For Spring, 2004 - "Hero Miles" provides travelers the opportunity to provide their Frequent Flier Miles to the great purpose of assisting veterans returning from duty in Afghanistan and Iraq in getting home for their point of arrival in the United States.  This is a great cause to support.

Feature Site For February, 2004 - "FIRST CAV MEDIC", a comprehensive listing of names, citations and accounts of the heroic Army medics who served on the battlefields to care for their wounded comrades.

Feature Site For January, 2004 - "FACES FROM THE WALL" is a detailed and comprehensive remembrance of the men from Washington State who served in Vietnam and paid the ultimate sacrifice for that devotion to duty.

Feature Site For December, 2003 - "AMERICAN VALOR, a well-done website on the Medal of Honor based upon the Veterans Day 2003 PBS documentary by the same name.  Pages include MOH stories, streaming audio, and teacher lesson plans.

Feature Site For November, 2003 - "SOCIAL STUDIES FOR KIDS", and encyclopedia of online information that is well presented and easily accessible.

Feature Site For October, 2003 - "KEN'S MEN", a great site for history on the 5th Air Force in World War II. 

Feature Site For September, 2003 - The Education and Support Alliance Project is a program designed to perpetuate patriotic education in schools.

Feature Site For August, 2003 - GREEN COUNTY DOUGHBOYS

Great History on World War I, including pictures of heroes and a poem written by a World War I posthumous recipient of the Medal of Honor.

Feature Site For July, 2003 - Milstory.com is a new site with hopes to provide veterans a forum to share their stories with others.  It went online for the first time on July 4th.  Watch for new features in the coming months.

Feature Site For June, 2003 - The Fisher House Foundation is a wonderful program providing help and assistance to our men and women in uniform.  We invite you to visit their website and learn more about their great efforts and program. 

Feature Site For May, 2003 - Valor Remembered is a site dedicated to an organization currently working on projects to create memorials to Medal of Honor recipients Roy Benavidez and Stephen Pless.  Additional such projects are planned in cooperation with surviving family members of other Medal of Honor recipients. 

Feature Site For April, 2003 - Honoring Sergeant Carter, a daughters tribute to her father.  This website honoring World War II hero Edward Carter is the product of his daughter, who recently published a book on the family campaign to clear his name and earn him the honor he justly deserved.

Feature Site For February and March, 2003 - Congressional Medal of Honor Internet Archives is a well designed and comprehensive look at Medal of Honor history and heroes, by a man who served for many years within the MOH Society.

Feature Site For January, 2003 - This is a comprehensive and well done website detailing the history, heroism and sacrifice of the men who serve as U.S. Army chaplains.

Feature Site For December, 2002 - Lots of History about World War I including the extensive Doughboy series of pages. 

Feature Site For October/November, 2002 - The Long Way Home Project is a program we are impressed enough with to make our feature two months in a row.  Click on the icon at left for more information about this educational series of Vietnam videos.

Feature Site For September, 2002 - The Aerodrome contains a wealth of information for those interested in World War I aerial warfare, including lists and bios of aces form all nations, information on aircraft, awards, and much more.

Feature Site For August, 2002 - This site for the Idaho Military History Museum is very well done by Gayle Alvarez, a good friend of HomeOfHeroes.com and an avid researcher on the Medal of Honor and other Idaho related military history.  We highly recommend these pages.

Feature Site For July, 2002 - A well done tribute to the chaplains of our military forces, focusing on the stories of some of the Chaplains  Corps' greatest heroes.

Feature Site For May & June, 2002 - The Armed Forces Veterans Homes Foundation is committed to insuring that our Nation's Veterans receive quality care and a quality lifestyle in their mature years.  They are involved in numerous efforts with a highly laudable program that spans all 50 states.

Feature Site For April, 2002 - A well done site with pictures of our Nation's Capitol, and some good history lessons.

Feature Site For March, 2002 - An online database of Vietnam War casualties provides visitors with the options to leave a message, or even post a photograph of our fallen heroes. 

Feature Site For January, 2002 - For decades the men and women of the USO have gone above and beyond in their efforts to remind our soldiers abroad that they are not forgotten at home.  We invite you to visit their website and keep up-to-date on their continuing activities for our men and women in uniform.

Feature Site For December, 2001 - Pentagon Angels is a moving site prepared for the families of those who lost loved ones during the September 11, 2001 attack on the Pentagon.  It is created by an Army officer who lost his own wife in the tragedy.

Feature Site For November, 2001 - A new and growing site to honor the contribution of the Japanese-American men and women of World War II.  A very user-friendly, and educational site.

Feature Site For October, 2001 - This is a brand new site that has been many months in development to highlight the stories of the men and women of the Greatest Generation in the defense of freedom during World War II.

Feature Site For August, 2001 - Viper's Vietnam Veteran Page is a well done site with pages of information on the US Military in Vietnam, profiles of veterans, and links to other pages.  It includes an excellent section on POW/MIAs and is highly recommended to students needing information on the Vietnam War. 

Feature Site For July, 2001 - "Just a Little Walk in the Park" is a site created by a Vietnam Veteran with excellent material, photos, and a highly recommended page with straight answers for students wanting to learn more about the Vietnam War. 

Feature Site For June, 2001 - The Army Center of Military History provides a rich resource for information, photos, military art, and much much more. 

Feature Site For May, 2001 - A very well done site from the Government Printing Office, it has easy to follow and well written pages to teach young people (and older folks too) about our government, states, how a bill becomes law, and more. 

Feature Site For April, 2001 - This site was posted to promote a new and exciting book on the attack at Pearl Harbor.  We were so impressed with the quality of this work, we had to feature it.  

Feature Site For March, 2001 - Arlington Cemetery.com is a well designed, informative, unofficial site for Arlington Cemetery.  You can find ample information on most heroes buried there along with photos of their headstones.

Feature Site For February, 2001 - Stars & Stripes has been a friend of our Nation's men and women in uniform for decades.

Feature Site For January, 2001 - The Virtual Wall movingly reminds us of the sacrifices made by America's young men and women who served in Vietnam.  You can add special tributes to their well organized listing of those who gave all, as well as find information on other memorials around the Nation.

Feature Site For December, 2000 - Interactive pages allow you to post your personal information, join groups based upon military units, post messages, and more.

Feature Site For November, 2000 - Perhaps the largest, most visited site on the Internet, you can find news, post to their active bulletin boards, find your old unit and search for buddies, and more.

Feature Site For October, 2000 - Without a doubt, this is the single largest and best site available for information on individual states, state flags and symbols, history, facts, and more.  A great homework resource for students and a wonderful learning place for all ages.
